Sustainability
Our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy is integrated into all areas of Sage, helping us to create sustainable homes, communities and build a business for the long term.
Our strategy continually looks to optimise our use of resources and plan for a zero carbon future to benefit our customers and colleagues.
A commitment to sustainability
Sustainability is, for us, an ongoing commitment guiding every decision we make.
From how we build and maintain safe, affordable and high‑quality homes, to how we support our residents and invest in our neighbourhoods, we focus on long‑term benefits for people, communities and the environment:
- Accessible homes that are fit for purpose
- Communities that are supported to thrive
- Continually reduced environmental impact of our operations
Keeping homes sustainable
We are proud to operate a highly energy efficient stock of homes.
98% of Sage homes have an energy performance certificate (EPC) of A or B, which helps to save our customer money each year. We conduct an annual EPC review to identify areas in need of futureproofing and to ensure that Sage homes remain energy efficient as they age.
Net Zero
While the energy performance of our portfolio remains well ahead of targets for the sector, our teams are working with colleagues, partners and customers to understand how best to navigate the increasing regulation that is driving the country towards its 2050 net zero target.
We are regularly evaluating our carbon emissions as a company to ensure reductions each year wherever possible.
We are also working with customers to better understand their energy needs to ensure that those on the lowest incomes don’t bear the cost of the transition.
As 98% of our homes are already EPC A or B, we are well placed to make the transition to net zero with only marginal disruption to our customers and their homes by 2050.
